The End of the Beginning
Jul. 6th, 2006 10:14 pmThe last chapter is posted. "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: The Curse Healer II", and with it my entire Pirates of the Caribbean fanfiction series, is finally over.
I'm going to try to say that with a straight face and pretend that I don't now have over 173 pages left to rewrite, extend (I hope to double the amount of pages), and connect properly with the SEQUEL, "An Affair of Blood" (or, as it's also called, "AAoB", which currently occupies a solid 104+ pages and on which I've barely gotten started). All of the old concepts borrowed from The Curse of the Black Pearl have to be replaced with all-new concepts that still fit into the basic framework of the story. The drunken Jack Sparrow has to be replaced with the cat-like con Tom Grey. The curse has new and different implications. And, most importantly of all, the discrepancies between "Morbus" (the rewrite's title) and "An Affair of Blood" have to be fixed, corrected, etcetera.
So I can say that the PotC sequel series, which has occupied the last three years of my life, is done. But the fact is, it's just getting started.
Random Note: You know... it's going to be really weird watching "Dead Man's Chest" [at the midnight showing tonight] without the womanizing Allen (hard to believe he didn't appear until the first Curse Healer), the double-sided Lawrence (the original bishi!), or even the bitchy merchant captain Shaye. Not to mention the chaotic gun-toting Admona or the practical-minded knife-toting Sera. Heck, it'll even be weird not to see my favorite sister-fucking bastard *ruffles Seran's hair* even though he didn't appear until this last one (and doesn't get developed until AAoB).
At least Jack, Will, and Norrington will be there, since they're not OC. But even then!!! If Norrington pairs up with some chick, it'll be so weird!!! (he gets paired with Sera's vampire husband's forgivably Sue-ish [she's forgiven because she had to walk in on Tobias eating Sera, then get told the man she'd worked 20 years to track down had married someone else... who looks like a guy... because otherwise he would have eaten her...] ex-fiancee in AAoB).
Oh, and, right, Jessica. Yeah. Definitely miss seeing her, since she was in all the sequel series. Yup. Who was she again? Didn't she die?
