4-hour midday naps = crackdreams
Feb. 27th, 2007 02:17 pmAll the dreams I had while I took my nap today flowed one into another, and all were pretty damn weird. First I dreamt that I was briefly (like, for a few seconds briefly) in tune with an alternate universe where I was a boy and had a little brother (with whom I was arguing in the alternate universe). Zapping back to my universe, I realized that must mean I had a sister, right? It turned out that I had a long-lost older sister who was a senior in college (and the preppy, shiny-looking type).
Anyway, back in the realm of universe-where-I-was-a-boy-with-a-little-bro (hence known as Lightverse), I was that universe's version of Yagami Light from Death Note. Meaning that he was Kira; yay woo. Rather than L (or in addition to L, I don't know, L never appeared) he was working with a medical doctor. The doctor had a girlfriend, and in universe-where-I-was-a-girl-with-an-older-sis (hence known as Girlverse), everyone around knew she was cheating on him.
Well, random dimensional switches kept going on, so after being in the head of Girlverse me for a while, Light realized this, investigated it, and it turned out that in Lightverse she was maybe just going fishing regularly at this pier near the hospital, maybe cheating? So he investigated with his little brother, going down to the under-pier that branches out from the base of the pier and goes close to the surface of the lake.
Somehow he got badly injured (don't know what happened to little bro, I think he listened to Light and ran), and ended up in the hospital next to the bed of this dying woman (there was a nice little scene where all the policemen come in and are like "OMG! Light is dead!" upset and the doctor's like "No, he's just under some anesthesia/painkillers/stuff."). After she died it turned out that she'd been murdered (and, secretly, Light had done it using his Kira powers), and so Light started to the investigation, despite being on bed rest. Eventually he compiled enough evidence at the funeral and from other sources, including a note written by her mob boss uncle (Light had forged it beforehand), to indicate that said uncle had been the one to kill her. And there was something about him reconstrucing demonstratively something to do with the crime by appropriately dressing up big plastic dolls. Don't ask me, it made sense in the dream... somehow. Maybe. Ish.
Anyway, dimensional switches and warping continue, weird things happen and get messed with and doctor tries to/nearly kisses Light.
And here it transitions from being in what all's going on to watching it on TV as, inexplicably enough, an episode of Heroes. Hiro Nakamura manages to discover that the doctor was receiving subliminal messages from an episode of the Simpsons that talks about Clark, Lex, the creation of Superboy, and why all males should use science to produce children with each other because it'll create a race of superbeings. ...hey, it's Simpsons. Even in a dream it has a right to be "wtf?" And have obscure references.
Well, apparently I was watching this alone in my room in the real world (scrap the sister and yay Keys?). I step out of the room to see if Jamie has caught the angsty-yaoi moment of the doctor trying to kiss Light, and find that she didn't start it in time and is watching a streaming delayed feed on YouTube of the show (like DirectTV, but not).
Suddenly the feed, and all of YouTube, befuzzes. (this is meant to be a dramatic, foreshadowing sentence)
Somehow or another I end up on the Big Wolf on Campus forums and read posts dedicated to members that have recently died (none of which are actually on the real-life forums, but who cares? it was a dream). Apparently they were shot by some raving psychokiller, who has also caused YouTube and various other free-share websites to stop working by killing off their members and probably their staff.
Someone named "Angela" (I think that was her name) takes a webcam and posts a video of herself touring this building the guy shot out, showing grainy images of doors and walls riddled with bullet holes, though no bodies...
The dream flows to the three of us plus our roommate (randomly) being "Angela" and being the ones to tour the shot-out building. We've snuck here in the hopes that now that it's been taken out, it's safe, and we go into a room that I suppose has a wireless hot-spot and check to see if YouTube is working again. We're on top of a crate or two, the door is nearly-shut (with just a bare crack of openedness), and suddenly we hear the regular, repeated sound of muffled rifle fire.
boom-boom-boom. boom-boom-boom.
I sit for a minute where I am against the wall, terrified, the rifle fire coming closer. I pray that none of us get shot.
"Kuri-chan, turn out the lights!!! Turn out the light!"
And that's about when I woke up.
