Jul. 3rd, 2006 09:08 pmI always grew up being sick all the time and reading adventure and fantasy stories. No, I'm not going for sympathy here, I'm talking about a story concept.
You see, in the fantasy stories, pretty much all the main characters were in good health, because how can you go on a quest to save the world if you have asthma or some other kind of disease like that? (well, there were exceptions, like Raistlin in Dragonlance, but...).
Anyway, I always thought about this and wanted to create a story where the main character was sickly, but I could never figure out how to do it. Unless the character was magically healed (which would negate the point), most standard quests would be impossible. The hard traveling required for such journeys would be too harsh on a sick body. The person wouldn't make it or would be a burden on his or her companions.
But then tonight after drinking two pots of green tea I started thinking about how I can put tea away like that. There's been a bit of an indication that I've got a high tolerance for alcohol, too. And I know my medicinal tolerance is super-high.
So it started me on a concept for a character that had been very sickly all his or her life and then one day, of course, things happen and the story begins, and they have the special ability to resist any kind of poison and drug because they've been on so much medication.
So, anyone want to pick it up...? Please tell me first if you do. ^_^ (totally doesn't have time to work on yet another story)
